Why Cross River has no COVID-19 case- Ayade reveals state's secret

Governor of Cross River state, Ben Ayade Governor of Cross River state, Ben Ayade

Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade has given reasons why the state is yet to experience an influx of the deadly coronavirus.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television, the Governor attributes the success to policing of its borders.

This is despite being surrounded by Benue, Ebonyi, Abia and Akwa Ibom who have all reported COVID-19 cases.

Ayade says it is because the state is doing surveillance training for all its border patrol staff. He also attributed the success to the intelligent minds around him.

"We policed all our borders and closed our airways. A team of 35 got clearance to come to Calabar but I refused them entry until I was sure that they were COVID-19 free and certified by the NCDC. Our borders are manned by senior officials. We are doing tracing and surveillance training. We have intelligent minds like the Commissioner of Health. The NCDC is impressed with our border closures, isolation centres and they are shocked at our preparedness," the Governor explained.
