The subject of the use of traditional and orthodox medicine has been a debate among many people for a long time with different reasons backing it.

The traditional medicine comprises of traditional knowledge that is developed over generations within the folk beliefs of various societies before the era of modern medicine by the use of plants, oils and animal parts.

For many years, traditional medicine has received limited consideration from medical experts as they demand more scientific evidence backing their claims.

Although traditional medicine plays a vital health care role in many African countries, many are still in support of the orthodox medicine which include tablets and syrups mostly prescribed by doctors and other specialists who carry out diagnosis, treatment, research among others.

Conventional modern medicine is sometimes called allopathic medicine. It involves the use of drugs or surgery, often supported by counseling and lifestyle measures.
