Three new COVID-19 cases recorded in Osun

At least three new cases of the deadly coronavirus have been recorded in Osun State on Wednesday, according to the state government.

As of the time of this report, the number of active cases in the state has increased to a total of seven.

The state’s Commissioner for Health, Dr Rafiu Isamotu, in a statement, said the patients are contacts of a previously confirmed case in the state.

According to him, three samples sent for the COVID-19 test from contacts of a confirmed case returned positive and increased the tally of active cases in the state to seven.

The statement reads, “samples of the new cases were taken during the contact tracing we embarked upon and sent for confirmation test at the NCDC accredited testing centre in Ede.

“The results of their samples came back positive this afternoon (Wednesday).

“The detection of the three cases brings to seven the number of active COVID-19 cases we have in Osun, as of 13 May 2020.

“The three new cases have been admitted to our Isolation and treatment centre.”
