Tanzania president, Magufuli does foot shake with fellow politician amidst fear of coronavirus

The president of Tanzania, John Magufuli, was pictured doing a foot shake with opposition politician Maalim Seif Sharif Hamad amidst fear of coronavirus.

This is in line with directives by the health ministry urging people to be cautious to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus which has killed more than 3,000 people globally since it broke out in 2019 in China's central city of Wuhan.

Although there are nine times more new infections outside China than inside recently, the BBC reported that most of the deaths have been recorded in China.

Governments around the world, including Tanzania, have advised people to avoid hugging, kissing and greeting people by the hand to prevent the spread of the virus.

Unlike Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, Nigeria and Senegal, Tanzania has not registered any suspected cases of the deadly coronavirus.
