The Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 has issued guidelines for the gradual easing of the lockdown on May 4th, 2020.

Giving strict guidelines at today's briefing, the National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu said interstate lockdown procedures will be strictly adhered to except for supplies and essential items.

He advised the elderly, aged 65 and above, to stay away from public gatherings to avoid the risk of being infected since they are the most vulnerable of the population. Going further, he said restaurants would remain closed and only operational via deliveries. He also added that social distancing, less gatherings and face masks will be strictly adhered to.

Aliyu's words: "Restrict yourself to your LGA except you you are going for healthcare and work. Only those in the supply chain can undertake inter-state travel. For intrastate movement, certain guidelines will apply across board. Make sure as a business that you produce hand sanitizers, temperature check, and restriction of mass gatherings to no more than 20 persons.

"Road construction of critical roads will be allowed. Neighbourhood markets will open with the same standards. Restaurants will not open but allow to deliver. Schools will continue e-learning. Persons above 65 must stop relating with the public. They are the most vulnerable."
