Pathologists would handle instances of strange deaths in Jigawa, Bauchi

Minister of Health, Osagie Ehanire has engaged pathologists to handle the instances of strange deaths in states like Jigawa and Bauchi.

Noting how important it is to identify the cause of mysterious deaths in the North, he stated that a team of pathologists have been sent to the affected states, to carry out investigations.

He added that the pathologists would also train the health practitioners in the affected states in a bid to figure out the cause of mass deaths.

"Pathologists have been engaged to conduct hands-on training in Jigawa and Bauchi states so they can carry out an investigation on the strange deaths. The team is in Bauchi, where they can take samples," the Minister said.

Speaking on the ramping up of testing via the use of rapid test kits, he warned the general public that the efficiency of the test is not guaranteed.

"Anybody is free to procure test kits. The validity of rapid test kits is not guaranteed. There is a high margin of error. Those who want to use it can use it. It tells those who are recovered or exposed," Ehanire explained.
