Director-General of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, Chikwe Ihekweazu revealed that the agency's response in Kano is improving.

Speaking during a briefing at the Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19, the NCDC boss said two labs were already functioning in Kano and will be live this week.

"Our response is improving. Two labs are functioning and we would go live by the weekend. The entire process is improving. Improvement is not obvious to see. We thank everyone for coming together to support the work in Kano. We are in a marathon and not a sprint," Ihekweazu said.

To conclude, the NCDC boss called for an end to stigmatization.

"Support health workers and do not stigmatise. We need Nigerians to support the work that do and not stigmatise the work. We are living with COVID-19 now. How can we manage this as we transit it into the next week is what is important," Ihekweazu pleaded.
