Nigeria records 437 new coronavirus cases, six deaths across 17 states, FCT

17 states and the Federal Capital Territory reported 437 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, according to figures released on Thursday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

The health agency also reported six COVID-19 related deaths.

The NCDC disclosed this on its official website page on Thursday.

According to the agency, the new cases were recorded from the FCT and 17 other states.

Lagos recorded the highest number of new infections with 126 cases, Rivers – 76, Kwara – 44, FCT – 37, Edo – 32, Kaduna – 30, Anambra – 22, Delta – 22, Osun – 12, Benue – 7, Abia – 6, Nasarawa – 6, Kano – 5, Ekiti – 3, Plateau – 3 while Bayelsa, Ogun and Oyo recorded 2 each.

The health agency said the 437 new COVID-19 infections have brought the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country to 205,484.

However, 193,482 COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged in the country, the agency said.

With six COVID-19 related deaths reported, the death toll from the virus has risen to 2,701 NCDC said.

It added that a multi-sectoral national Emergency Operations Centre, activated at Level 2, had continued to coordinate the national response activities.
