President of Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors, Aliyu Sokombo has clamoured for provision of Personal protective equipment for all healthcare workers across the country.

Sokombo made this call during a Channels Television programme this morning, noting that PPEs should not be limited to healthcare workers in Isolation and treatment centres alone.

"There is a need for aggressive testing all healthcare workers as they continue to come in contact with other patients, they are also coming in contact with COVID-19 patients. The more healthcare workers are exposed, the more we are heading for doom," Sokombo said

If health care workers are protected, there is a good chance that the virus may be contained. All healthcare workers are attending to potential COVID-19 cases. Instead of focusing on only those who work in Isolation and treatment workers, they should be protected as well," the NARD President stressed

Sokombo also asked for aggressive testing of healthcare workers themselves lest they continue to spread the virus as they encounter more and more ill patients.
