Femi Fani-Kayode has expressed amazement at Kano State governor - Abdullahi Umar Ganduje's request for relaxation of coronavirus lockdown after just less than a week.

MyNigeria.com reported that the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) ordered the total lockdown of Kano for two-weeks to curb the spread of the deadly coronavirus as mysterious deaths spiked in the state.

Regardless of the 80 cases recorded in Kano on Thursday night, governor Ganduje has requested that the FG eases the lockdown in the state.

The statement has since baffled Fani-Kayode, who released a statement on his official Twitter handle.

He said, "It amazes me that the Governor of Kano can be asking for a relaxation of the lockdown in his state because of Ramadan even when his people are still dropping dead like flies.

"Did Christians ask for a relaxation of the lockdown during Easter?"

According to Thursday night's record by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control - NCDC, Kano state has become the second state with the highest number of coronavirus cases with over 200 infections.

WHY DID GANDUJE REQUEST FOR RELAXATION OF THE LOCKDOWN?

"We would engage the presidential taskforce on COVID-19 to seek permission to relax the total lockdown imposed on Kano. We are making this appeal on behalf of our people who are presently running out of food items.

"We love the Federal government to relax the lockdown for a period of time to enable people stock their homes, especially now that majority of us are fasting. It will also ease the economic hardship in the state," This Day quoted him as saying.
