Coronavirus cases have not reached 472 yet- NCDC clarifies report

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control has dismissed rumours saying that coronavirus cases have reached 472 in Nigeria.

Taking to Twitter to discredit the report, the agency said the 472 accounts for Lassa Fever cases in Nigeria which it was currently handling.

It also noted that the Lassa Fever cases reported are for the month of February.

"NCDC is aware of tv screen image circulating of "472 confirmed cases" being attributed to #COVID19.

"NCDC is currently managing a national #Lassafever outbreak. The figures which appear are reported cases of #Lassafever as at February," it said in a statement.
