Coronavirus: Police arrest Ghanaian pastor for holding church service [Video]

The Ghanaian police have arrested a pastor for holding church service after the government placed a ban on religious gathering and other over the coronavirus outbreak.

Head Pastor of the Open Arms Ministries, Apostle Kofi Nkrumah Sarkodie was arrested by the Ashanti Regional Police Command for holding a church service at North Suntreso in Kumasi.

The pastor was arrested in the premises of the church, Wednesday morning, after the police received complaints of an ongoing church service, defying the directives by the government.

Ghana recorded a total of six confirmed cases within the space of three days and as a result, initiated a nationwide ban on public gatherings.

As of March 18, Ghana has 7 coronavirus cases out of the global record of more than 200,000 infections and at least, 8,273 deaths.

President Akufo-Addo, on March 15, 2020, announced that "all Universities, Senior High Schools, and basic schools... all public gatherings including conferences, workshops, funerals, festivals, political rally, sporting events and religious events such as services of churches and mosques have been suspended for the next four weeks... from Monday, 16th March 2020, till further notice."
