COVID-19: Ghana confirms death of three-month-old baby

The Ghanaian Health Ministry has confirmed the death of a three-month-old baby who suffered complications related to the deadly COVID-19 in the Northern Region.

According to GhanaWeb, the infant was a week ago transferred from the Savelugu Hospital to the Tamale Teaching Hospital where he died of the virus. The baby was said to be having difficulty in breathing.

Another COVID-19 victim, a 24-year-old lady, who was also referred from Bolgatanga, in the Upper East region to the Tamale Teaching hospital also died an hour after her arrival at the health facility.

The two latest casualties bring to three, the number of COVID-19 deaths in the Northern Region which currently has 52 coronavirus cases.

Officials from the Ghana Health Service in the northern region have since cautioned residents to strictly adhere to all safety protocols announced by the service.

After recording the first COVID-19 casualty in May(an 80-year-old woman) Ghana's national death toll has risen to a total of 66.

According to Worldometers, the Ghanaian health authorities have recorded a total of 12,590 COVID-19 cases so far.
