Health authorities have confirmed five cases of the deadly coronavirus in Akwa Ibom State, becoming the states' first cases and the country's 13th state to record the virus.

Despite the lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and Abuja (the states with the highest/first cases), the virus has spread to ten other states, as of April 2.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control made this known on Wednesday via its Twitter handle.

Recall that Mynigeria.com informed you that the confirmed cases have risen to a total of 174, as released by the NCDC on Wednesday night.

It tweeted, “Twenty three new cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Nigeria – Nine in Lagos, seven in the FCT, five in Akwa Ibom, one in Kaduna and one in Bauchi State.

“As of 08:00 pm on the 1st of April, there are 174 confirmed cases of #COVID-19 reported in Nigeria. Nine have been discharged with two deaths.

“Currently, Lagos has 91 cases, FCT- 35, Osun- 14, Oyo- eight, Ogun- four, Edo- four, Kaduna- four, Bauchi- three, Enugu- two, Ekiti- two, Rivers- one, Benue- one and Akwa Ibom – five.”
