BREAKING: Nigeria records 403 new COVID-19 cases, toll rises above 16,000

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control NCDC has announced "403 new cases of #COVID19" on Sunday night.

This takes the total number of recorded cases in the country to at least 16,085 infections since the outbreak of the deadly virus in Wuhan, China last December.

Gombe State tops the toll with a total of 73 cases while Lagos, the epicentre of the deadly virus in the country comes second with 68 infections.

Kano and Edo States recorded 46 and 36 cases respectively while the FCT recorded a total of 35 cases, according to the NCDC.

Other cases recorded on Saturday night include Nasarawa-31, Kaduna-17, Oyo-16, Abia-15, Delta-13, Borno-13, Plateau-8, Niger-7, Rivers-7, Enugu-6, Ogun-6, Kebbi-3, Ondo-1, Anambra-1 and Imo-1.

According to the NCDC, there a total of 5,220 discharged patients and 420 deaths as at Saturday night.
