The country has been hit with the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, strict measures have been put in place to ensure compliance with the protocols.

However, 33 persons who failed to adhere to the health protocols of wearing a facemask in public were arrested and have been convicted by an Abuja Mobile Court.

Some of the convicts who pleaded guilty to the charges read out by the prosecutor were fined N2,000 with an option of engaging in supervised community service.

Others who pleaded guilty were on the other hand, remanded in a correctional facility until they meet the bail bond of N10,000.

This action by the court follows the President's directive for all offenders of the coronavirus protocol to be punished.
