FG arrests Nnamdi Kanu - Malami

Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami has announced that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu have been arrested.

The minister revealed this on Tuesday, June 29, during a press briefing in Abuja.

He said that Nnamdi Kanu was apprehended on Sunday, June 27, 2021 in the United Kingdom (UK) and extradited to Abuja, Nigeria.

Malami noted that a collaboration between security agencies in Nigeria and Interpol led to the arrest of the IPOB leader.

According to him, Kanu will be arraigned before the Federal High Court to continue his charges on terrorism, unlawful possesion of firearms, management of an unlawful society and treasonable felony.

In a publication cited on Lindaikejisblog, in April 2017, Nnamdi Kanu was granted bail on health grounds. However, he jumped bail after flouting some of the conditions the court gave him.

On March 28, 2019, Justice Binta Nyako revoked the bail and issued a Bench warrant for his arrest in any part of the country.
