The family of a man killed by kidnappers in Ekiti State, Mr Sesan Orisan, has appealed to Governor Kayode Fayemi to equip Amotekun Corps to be able to tackle bandits consistently perpetrating abduction and killing of innocent citizens in the state.

The family also appealed to Fayemi and his Lagos State counterpart, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to help the first daughter of the deceased, Feyi, who is a graduate, to relieve the family of the burden of losing their breadwinner.

The late Orisan, a Lagosian, was in Ekiti State to attend a social event, but was killed by gunmen while driving along Ayetoro- Ewu Ekiti Road on Friday, August 6, while his wife and daughter, who were in the vehicle were abducted.

Orisan’s inlaw and former member, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Hon. Segun Erinle, who spoke in Ado Ekiti, on Saturday, after Feyi’s release from captivity, appealed to the two governors to come to the aid of the young lady, whose father was killed in her presence before being kidnapped .

Erinle said there must be synergy between the Chairmen of the adjoining Moba, Ido/Osi and Ilejemeje local governments in Ekiti State, the traditional rulers in the local governments, and the Police force, to find a lasting solutions to the problem.

He stated that; “What happened is a disgrace to the State, hence, all hands must be on deck to put a lasting solution to the problem.

“The kidnappers used same route to carry out the kidnapping hence it should be easier to apprehend them.

“Ekiti state government must equip the Local Amotekun outfit with more funding to be able to perform effectively. I praise the State government with the initiatives to purchase some drones in an effort to combat the security challenges”.

The former lawmaker urged all Ekitis to cooperate with the security personnel with an effort to make the state free of criminals and a safe haven for all.

“Though this incident was shocking and frightening, but I appeal to all Ekiti in diaspora not to be afraid of coming to Ekiti as Ekiti remains their Jerusalem, but instead to support in efforts to make Ekiti a safe haven for all”, he said.

However, the captives were released at Ikun Ekiti, Moba Council area, on Tuesday night after spending four nights in the kidnappers’ den.

The daughter, Feyi, a masters’ degree student, is both a Lagosian and an Ekiti girl ,because the father was a Lagosian while her mother is from Ekiti.
