Army guns down another top IPOB/ESN commander

The Nigerian army has reportedly killed a top operational commander of Eastern Security Network, the paramilitary organisation of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Owerri the Imo state capital.

The army's spokesperson, Brigadier General Mohammed Yerima in a statement on Sunday, June 6, via Facebook revealed the identity of the slain commander as Joseph Uka Nnachi alias King of Dragons.

The troops accompanied by the police special forces gunned down Joseph Nnachi alongside four other members during an attack on the Imo state police command.

Yerima noted that the killed commander led several attacks on security forces in the South East.

Items recovered from the suspects include four AK-47 rifles, a Toyota Hiace Mini bus as well as several assorted ammunition and charms.

On the other hand, security operatives on Sunday, June 6 stormed the home of a lawyer for the IPOB, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, at Oraifite in Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra state.

The Punch newspaper, reports that the operatives surrounded the proscribed group lawyer’s family house around 2.30 am.

However, the chairman of the International Society for Civil Liberties and Rule of Law, Emeka Umeagbalasi, has condemned the invasion.
