Online personality and content creator Raye has voiced frustration over the persistent power outages in Nigeria, calling out government authorities after enduring two weeks without electricity in Lagos.
Expressing her grievances on social media, Raye stated that access to reliable electricity should be treated as a basic citizen right rather than a privilege. She criticised the government’s electricity tariff categorisation system, noting that despite higher bills, basic power supply remains unfulfilled.
"Electricity is not a privilege!! It's a citizen's right! First you put us in different categories said band ABCDEFGJ increased my bill. Now you won't even give us light," she wrote.
Relating her experience since returning to Lagos, Raye explained how the blackout has negatively impacted her daily routine and work capacity, resulting in direct financial losses.
"Came back into Lagos 2 weeks now and I feel regret, this is why people japa for good. What nonsense... I'm losing money not working, every hour I don't turn into work it's my money going. No light no work," she added.
"Light is not luxury. Why can't we have 24 hours electricity in Nigeria?" – Online personality, Raye blows hot over two weeks without electricity. https://t.co/Gokouo7I55
