Nigerian comedian and actor Basketmouth has lashed out at individuals who routinely flaunt their fleets of luxury cars and sprawling mansions on social media.

In a candid post shared online, the entertainer questioned the core motivation behind such ostentatious displays, asking whether the target audience is the wealthy class, who likely possess far more, or struggling citizens who can barely afford data to view them.

"When you post your fleet of cars and your mansions on social media, who exactly are you trying to impress? The rich, who probably have way better? Or the poor, who can only admire from a distance... if they have data," Basketmouth wrote.

Directly calling out luxury spenders in congested urban centers like Lagos, the comedian poked fun at acquiring high-speed automobiles where traffic and road conditions make them impractical, posing the rhetorical question, "Is your garage a race track?"

He also contrasted the culture of online flexing with worsening public infrastructure, pointing out that basic civic challenges remain unaddressed while multi-billion-naira assets are put on display.

"Meanwhile, the potholes are getting bigger and the floods are getting deeper," he noted.

Concluding his remarks, Basketmouth reminded his audience that authentic financial success requires no external validation or showmanship, declaring, "True wealth doesn't need an audience....it moves in silence".
