Popular Nigerian skit maker and human rights activist Adebowale Adedayo, well known as Mr Macaroni, has marked the sixth anniversary of the EndSARS protests, lamenting that citizens remain deeply divided while governance challenges persist.

The activist made the submission on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, by sharing archival video footage of himself addressing crowd demonstrations during the nationwide October 2020 movement against police brutality.

Reflecting on the state of the nation six years after the demonstrations at the Lekki Tollgate, the entertainer observed that fundamental issues surrounding public welfare, security, and institutional transparency remain unresolved.

"6 Years Later! We are still dealing with Insecurity, hunger, poverty, lack of proper health care and the highest level of corruption and impunity. The saddest part is that we are even more divided as a people at a time when we should be most united," Mr Macaroni wrote.

The activist urged young Nigerians to recognize their civic power and push for systemic change rather than allowing political leaders to undermine national development.

"I hope one day we truly realize the power that we have as citizens and stop allowing a few selfish individuals destroy the success and prosperity of the majority of us," he added.

The nationwide EndSARS movement, which began in October 2020 to demand the disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and broader governance reforms, culminated in the tragic shooting incident at the Lekki Toll Gate on October 20, 2020.
