Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has opened up about his long-standing battle with health challenges, disclosing that he has been living with diabetes since 1996.

The screen icon made the revelation during an African A-List interview while reflecting on his medical history, personal tragedies, and his decades-long career in the movie industry.

According to the actor, living with the condition for thirty years has helped him understand his body and manage his daily routine effectively.

"I became diabetic in 1996; I understand my health better than some doctors do. Do not misquote me. I am not saying I know how to do everything, I just do not want to die," Jide Kosoko stated.

Beyond his health struggles, the movie star spoke candidly about losing three wives over the years, including the mother of actress Bidemi Kosoko.

"I lost my wife during childbirth; that's Bidemi's mother. I have lost three wives," he noted.

Addressing family dynamics, the actor advised parents to avoid favoritism and ensure equal treatment among their offspring.

"Treat your children equally; let them know they're equal in your mind," Jide Kosoko advised.

Tracing his acting background, the veteran performer highlighted his role as a pioneer in the Nigerian film space, having launched his creative journey as a child actor in 1964 before founding his own theatre troupe in 1972.

He also commented on the evolution of digital platforms, acknowledging that while social media helps entertainers expand their audience reach, some users mismanage the space by sharing improper content online.

"When social media was coming, we were afraid. But now we use it to our advantage. Some use it uselessly. Must you shake your bumbum and talk about that jargon?" he asked.
