Controversial Nigerian socialite and media personality Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, has taken to social media to call out Nigerian women who are using the diabetes drug Ozempic for rapid weight loss.
In a viral post shared on her social media page, Bobrisky expressed amusement and concern over what she described as an extreme trend among women trying to shed weight.
Using her signature humorous Pidgin English style, the crossdresser criticized those who have abandoned their fuller, curvier physiques in pursuit of slimness through medication.
"God abeg ooo! Who swear for some of these Nigerian women? Make una leave Ozempic alone abeg! Some of una were so pretty with that thick, juicy vibe, but now una don turn to lizard wey forget to eat! Una no get mirror for una house? No be every trend una suppose follow o!" Bobrisky posted.
Bobrisky further joked about how drastically some women's appearances have changed due to rapid weight loss, urging her followers to embrace self-love rather than blindly conforming to viral beauty trends.
"Some of una don overdo this Ozempic matter to the point say even your shadow dey look for where to hide! You go see woman wey body sweet before, now she don look like say NEPA carry all the flesh go. Ozempic no be beauty competition, my people! Abeg, know when to stop chasing trends and love your body," she added.
Originally prescribed to manage type 2 diabetes, semaglutide drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy have surged in popularity across global pop culture and social media as quick-fix weight loss solutions.
The off-label use of diabetes medication for aesthetic weight loss has sparked widespread debate among health professionals in West Africa, with experts warning of side effects such as rapid muscle mass reduction, gastrointestinal issues, and nutritional deficiencies.
