Veteran Nollywood actor Hanks Anuku has appealed to citizens to exercise patience with President Bola Tinubu, insisting that the country's economic and social challenges predate the current administration.
Speaking in a recent interview, the action film icon dismissed public criticism directed at the president, arguing that previous administrations laid the foundation for the nation's present difficulties.
Anuku maintained that fixing Nigeria's systemic problems requires time and collective endurance rather than aggressive outrage.
"I'll stick with Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Nigeria has to be patient for this man. And the country was not spoilt by him. There were people there before him. Why didn't they go and attack those people? He has to fix it now," Anuku said.
The actor praised President Tinubu's performance so far, warning that hasty political transitions could result in even harsher realities for the country.
"He's doing great. You should be patient. We're too much in a hurry. That's why everybody is so aggressive. How many people can be better than him? Most people who are gonna come after him may even be worse off. So the devil, you know, is better," he added.
Anuku also dismissed speculation that his public support for the administration was financially motivated, maintaining that his allegiance stems strictly from his conviction in President Tinubu's leadership capacity.
The Tinubu administration's economic policies, including fuel subsidy removal and exchange rate unification, continue to generate heated debate across political and entertainment circles, with various public figures taking public stances on the administration's progress.
