Nigerians and social media users have reacted after American rapper Nicki Minaj reposted a message shared by African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
In a post on Wednesday, , Obi condemned ongoing killings, kidnappings and ransom demands in Borgu, Niger State, calling on the Federal Government to take stronger action to protect citizens. Nicki Minaj reposted his message the following day, Thursday.
The repost has since sparked mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians describing it as a sign that the international community is paying attention to the situation in Nigeria, while others criticised the singer for sharing Obi's message.
Reacting online, X user @son_of_jerry wrote: "I confirmed on her page. She did. Interesting times ahead," while @justme2005 said, "She's been speaking out about the genocide in Nigeria.".
Others framed the repost within the broader political and security debate in the country. @OkoyeChidi1 wrote:
