Nollywood actress and filmmaker Bolaji Ogunmola has revealed an unconventional approach to retirement planning, saying she is building her future around owning a large catalogue of films rather than relying on traditional savings.

Speaking on a podcast, the actress explained her strategy in clear terms.

"My retirement plan is to own 1,000 movies," she said.

She broke down the financial logic behind the plan, pointing to the long-term value of owning film rights.

"Do you know what it means if you have even a hundred films and somebody buys your catalog? That's at least $1 million. So if you have a thousand, do you know what I'm talking about?" she said.

Ogunmola added that foresight was key to the approach, positioning film ownership as a long-term investment rather than a short-term payday.

“My retirement plan is to own 1,000 movies. I currently own 100, and if a big company wants to buy those 100 movies, they’d have to pay at least $1 million. I’m building my retirement fund through movies.”
