Singer Kelly Hansome has doubled down on his claim that Yoruba people are tribalistic by stating that they don't want to give Igbo people seaport.
After decades of being away from the music scene, the singer came into the limelight a few days ago when he claimed that Yoruba people are the reason his fellow Igbo singer Flavour couldn't sell out his show at the O2 Arena in London.
According to Kelly Hansome, Grammy Award-winning Wizkid sold out the same venue because Yoruba people, who are the majority among Nigerians in the UK, trooped out to show him support.
His comment generated backlash as many Nigerians slammed him for bringing tribalism into music. According to them, his grouse has nothing to do with tribalism because Flavour is not in the same category as Wizkid, which is why he couldn't sell out the O2 Arena.
In response, Kelly Hansome released another video blaming Yoruba people for the things his Igbo people are facing in Nigeria.
He said, "If you say that what I said is not true, show me that it's not true; let Flavour sell a show, let it sell out, so we will know that all of us are one language. After all, when I came to Lagos, I learnt how to speak Yoruba. Most of you m*therf(ckers don't know how to speak Igbo. I live in Lagos. Most of you don't come to Imo State to live there. Why?"
Kelly Hansome also spoke about a seaport not being in the Southeastern region occupied by Igbo people, even though the region is landlocked.
He said, "When they talk about opening seaport in the East, you people don't like it. Anywhere the Igbos build house, you find trouble and remove them. You are happy. There are videos online of your people being happy over houses that were destroyed that belong to Igbo people. You can't come here and tell me that your tribe... If you don't want your tribe to be tribalist, let me see Flavour go to London and sell out a show. Ninety per cent of your people are Yorubas... What do you mean 'is Flavour not singing in Igbo?' Even for my song, I dey put Yoruba for my song. How many of una song una dey put Igbo inside? I dey hear some tho. Don't get mad when I say the truth, just change."
