Afrobeats superstar Davido has opened up about the unreleased collaboration between himself and veteran singer Wande Coal on the hit single "Come My Way," explaining why their joint version never saw the light of day.

Speaking on the Uncut Podcast, the singer revealed that Wande Coal initially reached out to him to record a feature for the track before its official debut.

"He needed me at the time to get a verse on the song. So he brought it to me. At the time he hadn't released it. I recorded that verse and it was stupid hard. There's a video of us jamming to the song," Davido recalled.

However, creative differences quickly emerged regarding how the song should be released to the public. According to Davido, Wande Coal wanted to drop the solo version first and keep the guest feature for a later remix, a plan Davido firmly rejected.

"I don't remember what exactly happened. But I think he wanted to release the original version first and then use the one with my version as a remix. But I told him no. The verse I did was not for a remix. But he didn't agree to that. So it was never released," he explained.

Because neither artiste backed down on their vision for the release, the collaboration was ultimately shelved, leaving the verse in the vault.
