Davido's uncle won the Osun State elections

Davido couldn't hold it together as his uncle secured victory.

As State Returning Officer Prof. Joshua Ogunwole formally announced Ademola Adeleke winner of the 2026 Osun State governorship election, Davido erupted in celebration.

He was spotted jumping to his feet, dropping to his knees, and eventually lying on the floor in excitement, while members of his team watching alongside him immediately joined in the cheering.

The Afrobeats star had been visibly overwhelmed with emotion throughout the moment, appearing to break down as the significance of the result sank in.

He later took to X to share the celebratory video, captioning it: "WE DID IT UNC !!! @aadeleke_01."

Adeleke, who ran on the Accord Party ticket, secured 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who polled 444,815 votes, securing him another term after first winning the seat in 2022.

Davido had been deeply involved in his uncle's campaign, serving as Chairman of the Imole Youth Mobilisation Campaign Council, and had put parts of his music career on hold to focus on grassroots mobilisation ahead of the election.

In the days before the vote, he was vocal online, urging Osun residents to reject violence and protect their ballots.

The emotional clip has since gone viral, with fans and colleagues flooding the comments with congratulatory messages for both the singer and the newly re-elected governor.
