Afrobeats star Peter Okoye (Mr P) of the iconic P-Square duo has opened up about his greatest fear in life, revealing that experiencing extreme poverty during his childhood shaped his outlook on wealth and survival.

Speaking on The Nancy Isime Show, the singer explained that he holds no fear of death but remains deeply terrified of going broke due to his past experiences.

"I’m not afraid of death. The only thing I’m afraid of in this life is poverty. It is being broke," the musician stated.

Reliving a traumatic ordeal from his upbringing, Okoye recalled how his entire family struggled to get by in a single room before being forcefully displaced.

"I have tasted it before. We were living in a one-bedroom flat with me, my mum, my father, like, the whole family. Six boys and two girls live in a one-bedroom apartment... They had to divide the room with a curtain," he shared.

He revealed that their living situation took a turn for the worse after the property was sold without their control.

"The landlord had sold the compound, and we were trying to plead to give us some time. The next thing, we were at home, and then a bulldozer came and demolished it. We have tasted poverty before," Okoye recounted.
