Big Brother Naija alumni, Adekunle Olopade and Omololu Shomuyiwa have founded a new initiative, Protect The Boy Child Initiative (PTBCI).
Founded by Adekunle Olopade, the initiative has announced the appointment of Omololu Shomuyiwa as Director of Global Affairs, alongside the premiere of its documentary, ‘Close The Gap.’
The move forms the first arm of the organisation’s landmark event tagged ‘2026: The Year of The Man campaign.’
According to the reality TV star, PTBCI, a Lagos-registered non-governmental organisation, was founded to mentor, educate, and nurture boys and young men across Nigeria. NigerianEntertainment Coverage
“Nigeria has left a dangerous question unanswered: who is raising our boys? From out-of-school rates to drug abuse, cultism, and a silent mental health crisis, our boys are falling through the cracks while remaining invisible in the national conversation. PTBCI exists to change that – and the Year of The Man is us changing it at scale,” Adekunle said.
Omololu, who is based in the United States, steps in to lead PTBCI’s global operations and partnerships, bringing an international perspective and a shared conviction that Nigerian boys deserve deliberate, structured investment.
“For too long, society has assumed boys are born resilient, leaving them to navigate isolation, trauma, and ambition entirely on their own. We aren’t just offering a lifeline – we want to rewrite the script of what modern manhood looks like. True influence isn’t measured by the noise of an audience, but by the quiet transformation of a single life. The future of our communities depends on the boys we refuse to leave behind,” Omololu said.
Close The Gap examines the widening gap between Nigerian boys and the support systems meant to hold them. The documentary, according to the organisers, launches a year-round campaign calendar that includes various programs and initiatives targeting boys and men of all ages, offering help one boy at a time.
