'Bitterness can’t blind God’- Mary Njoku warns against malicious prayers

Actress Mary Njoku has criticised people she described as religious fanatics, stating that God’s justice cannot be swayed by personal resentment or bitterness.

In a message shared on Instagram, Njoku explained that frequent church attendance and deep familiarity with scripture do not empower anyone to reverse God’s favor on another person’s life.

She emphasised that God is just and discerning, looking at the heart and true motives while rewarding genuine love and faithfulness.

Njoku wrote, “Dear religious fanatics, God justice cannot be guided by your grudges. Just because seven days a week or read the bible from Genesis to Revelation does not mean that hating someone and fervently praying for their downfall will cancel God’s favour upon their life. God is not unjust, he sees the hearts, knows our motives and honours geniune love and faithfulness.

The mother of three also cautioned against making harmful prayers out of spite, noting that such prayers tend to backfire quickly when aimed at individuals who have shown love, kindness, and support.

Njoku added that the target of such ill will could even be someone sent by God as an answer to the petitioner’s own prayers.

While bitterness may cloud human judgment, she said, it cannot deceive God.

She added, “Nothing backfires faster than a malicious prayer against someone who has only shown you love, kindness, and support. Especially someone God may have sent as an answer to your own prayers. Bitterness may blind the heart, but it cannot blind God”.
