Actress Mary Njoku has cautioned against bowing to societal pressure that accompanies fame and money.

In a post on Instagram, the mother of three said the world quickly begins to dictate how people should live once they gain a bit of fame or wealth.

She noted that people will push you to spend beyond your means just to meet their expectations of who you should be.

Njoku warned against giving in, saying the same people will abandon you when things go wrong.

She stressed that no one should be pressured into performing success instead of building stability.

“When you have some fame and money, the world suddenly starts deciding how you should live your life.

“People will pressure you to spend above your means to match their expectations of who they think you should be. Don’t let them!

“The moment anything goes wrong and the light goes off, the same people will turn it back on. And you will be standing in the darkness alone. Don’t let people pressure you into performing success instead of building stability,” she wrote.

According to her, many people enjoy influencing others’ lives from the comfort of their homes, without allowing anyone else’s opinion to affect them.

She urged colleagues not to give up their real lives for other people’s amusement or hand over control of their choices.

“Most people don’t actually want control of your life because they love you; they enjoy influencing it while sitting comfortably in their own homes, living however they choose, without your opinion affecting them. Don’t give up your Real life for their amusement. Don’t hand them the remote. You don’t know how much time you have left”, she added.
