Nigerian businessman and socialite Cubana Chiefpriest has spoken candidly about the painful lessons he learned during his recent political journey after losing the APC primary election for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East Federal Constituency seat in Imo State.
The celebrity barman lost the party ticket to incumbent lawmaker Canice Nwachukwu, a development that sparked reactions across social media.
Speaking during a viral live session with popular TikTok streamer Peller, Cubana Chiefpriest alleged that several politicians and insiders repeatedly assured him that victory was already guaranteed, convincing him to spend huge amounts of money throughout the process.
According to him, he allegedly spent as much as N50 million in one place and another N20 million elsewhere after being told the election was already in his favour.
The businessman admitted that the outcome left him deeply disappointed, especially after trusting those who allegedly promised to secure his victory.
When asked whether he planned to go after the individuals who collected money from him, Cubana Chiefpriest explained that recovering the funds would be nearly impossible because there were no official records or receipts tied to the transactions.
Despite the painful experience, the socialite said he has decided not to focus on revenge but instead learn valuable lessons about loyalty, trust, and the realities of Nigerian politics.
According to him, politics is very different from entertainment and business, noting that many people only remain loyal when personal interests are involved.
However, Cubana Chiefpriest maintained that the setback has not discouraged his political ambition. He revealed that he still plans to contest future elections and believes persistence is part of the journey to success.
The businessman also referenced global leaders like Barack Obama and Donald Trump, stating that many successful politicians experienced disappointments before eventually achieving victory.
