Nigerian rapper Ice Prince has emotionally reflected on his last meeting with late Nollywood actor Alexx Ekubo, revealing that the movie star was secretly battling cancer while still showing up for others.
Alexx Ekubo reportedly passed away on Monday, May 11, after allegedly battling chronic kidney cancer. Since the heartbreaking news surfaced online, tributes from colleagues, fans, and loved ones have continued to flood social media.
Speaking during an interview with TVC, Ice Prince shared that the last time he saw Alexx was during a cancer awareness walk the actor organised in Abuja back in 2024.
According to the rapper, nobody at the event had any idea that Alexx himself was privately dealing with the illness he was advocating against.
“The last time I saw Alexx Ekubo was during the cancer awareness walk he organised in Abuja in 2024. Despite leading such a powerful cause, he never told anyone he was quietly battling cancer himself,” Ice Prince said.
He described the late actor as calm, selfless, and positive despite whatever pain he may have been carrying behind closed doors.
“May his gentle soul continue to rest in peace,” the rapper added.
