Actress Teniola Aladese has stated that she is not interested in dating fellow actors, preferring romantic relationships with producers or directors instead.
Speaking on the ‘I Said What I Said’ podcast, Aladese described the dating scene in Lagos as “stressful” and “a very big mess,” adding that her direct messages are often flooded with suitors. Despite this, she said her personal dating experiences have been largely positive, noting, “I have never had a terrible date.”
Aladese explained that she often knows after the first meeting if a relationship will not work, saying, “It is just that after the first date, I already know that you will never see me again.”
The actress, who transitioned from movie production management to acting, rose to prominence with her role in the Africa Magic drama series Jemeji and won the Trailblazer Award at the 2022 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA).
She emphasised her preference for dating individuals in positions of influence within the industry, stating, “I don’t want to date an actor. I wouldn’t mind the upper echelons like producers, directors, but actors are a no for me.” Aladese did not provide further reasons for this preference.
