Nigerian activist Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has vowed to assist TikToker Mirabel after reports emerged that she is in police custody following her admission that her earlier rape allegation was fabricated.
In a circulating video, VeryDarkMan shared that attempts to reach Mirabel have proven impossible. Adding that, he had spoken to someone, and the news reaching him is that Mirabel is in police custody.
“Since yesterday, I have been trying to reach out to mirabel she has switched off her phone, now I am hearing she is at the police station and I must help her,” he said.
Mirabel had initially gone viral after claiming she was assaulted in her Ogijo, Ogun State apartment in mid-February 2026, sparking outrage and public donations.
However, a later phone conversation shared by VDM allegedly captured her admitting she fabricated parts of the story, including sending herself threatening messages, while also revealing struggles with codeine addiction and mental health issues.
The Ogun State Police Command has indicated plans to prosecute her for false reporting. Jurisdiction was moved to Ibafo Police Station following preliminary findings.
Public reaction remains divided, with some criticizing VDM’s shift in stance and others supporting his decision to help her seek rehabilitation. Investigations are ongoing.
