Former Queen Mercy Atang has opened up about the current state of her marriage to King David Oyekanni, confirming that their union has come to an end.

The mother of one tied the knot in 2024 in a glamorous ceremony that drew massive attention online, with clips and photos from the event circulating widely on social media.

Speculation about trouble in the marriage began when fans noticed she had removed all wedding photos from her pages and unfollowed her husband. At the time, she chose not to address the rumors.

However, in a recent social media post where she called out a former partner, Queen confirmed that she is no longer married to King David. She explained that once a relationship ends for her, it stays in the past, stressing that she does not revisit old romances. She did not disclose specific reasons for the breakdown of the marriage, which lasted less than two years.

The reality star also alleged that an ex-boyfriend she dated in 2013 while studying at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University has been attempting to reinsert himself into her life since her separation.

According to her, around the time of her 2024 wedding, the former lover circulated damaging claims about her via WhatsApp and Snapchat in a bid to smear her reputation. She said she reached out to individuals close to him, including his brother and employer, asking them to intervene, before ultimately leaving the situation in God’s hands.

She further claimed that in 2026, the same man contacted her sister to request her phone number, saying he wanted to apologise.

Clearly upset, Queen declared that she is no longer the “mumu lover girl,” adding that she has outgrown emotional vulnerability and no longer prioritises love the way she once did. She also maintained that she still has evidence of the WhatsApp messages allegedly shared about her.
