Makeup artist and stylist Black Koko, whose real name is Fred Ebikeme, has sparked strong reactions online after opening up about a traumatic experience linked to his lifestyle.
Black Koko shared his story on The Clarity Show, hosted by Nedu Wazobia.
In the interview, he spoke honestly about the challenges he faces as a feminine-presenting socialite and entertainer.
According to him, he was once attacked by a group of men who beat him with pieces of wood, accusing him of corrupting society because of how he lives and expresses himself. He said the incident left him deeply shaken.
Black Koko added that many feminine boys face similar violence and hardship every day due to societal intolerance.
He also recalled visiting Mushin with others to share food with feminine boys living in the area, noting that their situation was troubling.
He further alleged that some of these boys are beaten during the day and later exploited at night by people involved in illegal activities.
Speaking more broadly, Black Koko claimed that some entertainers who appear “normal” in public live different lives at night.
According to him, some attend private parties dressed as women or “baddies,” then switch back to presenting themselves with girlfriends during the day.
The interview triggered mixed reactions online. While some viewers criticised Black Koko’s lifestyle and dressing, others focused on the interview itself, commenting on the reactions of the women present and noting that Black Koko appeared emotional, repeatedly wiping away tears as he spoke.
The discussion has also revived memories of a previous incident involving a crossdresser named Emeka, who was reportedly assaulted over his appearance and later taken to Yaba Left for treatment after suffering mental health challenges.
