Veteran Nigerian singer 2Face Idibia has voiced his opinion on the ongoing debate comparing Afrobeat legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti with contemporary superstar Wizkid, criticizing the comparison.
During an appearance on the Mic On Podcast, the music legend called the comparison "ridiculous,” emphasizing that it disrespects Fela’s legacy and is unfair to Wizkid’s achievements.
2Face pointed out that comparing the two artists overlooks their different eras, influences, and distinctive contributions to Nigerian music.
He explained that while Fela remains an irreplaceable legend, Wizkid has also carved his own powerful path in the industry. “It’s disrespectful to Fela, and at the same time unfair to Wizkid,” he said, making it clear that both deserve to be celebrated on their own terms.
