Popular Nigerian singer Teniola Apata, professionally known as Teni, has taken to social media to express her disappointment following Davido’s loss at the 68th Grammy Awards, which held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Crypto.com Arena, Los Angeles, USA.

The night proved disappointing for Nigerian artistes, as South African star Tyla clinched the Best African Music Performance award, her second Grammy win, ahead of top contenders including Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, and Wizkid.

Tyla’s chart-topping track “Push 2 Start”, off her self-titled album Tyla, edged out Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s “Gimme Dat,” Burna Boy’s “Love,” Davido and Omah Lay’s “With You,”** as well as Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin’s “Hope & Love.”

Reacting on her Instagram page on Monday, Teni, known for her humorous personality, openly lamented the outcome, especially as Davido, whom she described as a long-time supporter, failed to secure the coveted award.

In a lighthearted video, the singer jokingly criticised the Grammy Awards, suggesting she might have been arrested if she had attended the ceremony.

Teni also revealed that she is currently in Paris, France, for a performance, adding that her manager had reminded her of the need to make money. She humorously wondered who would now “help” her, following the Grammy losses of her colleagues.

She captioned the post: “DEM DON ROB MY HELPER!!!!!!!! GRAMMY WHYYYYY!!!! 😫😫😫🥹🥹🥹😢😢😢😢😢😢😢.”
