Afrobeats heavyweight David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has stirred conversation on social media following a comment he made in response to a video featuring popular American streamer IShowSpeed.

The streamer, who recently visited Nigeria to an enthusiastic reception from fans, later travelled to Ghana, where a video surfaced showing him receiving a massage from several women. The clip, which has since gone viral, captured IShowSpeed looking relaxed and entertained as the women posed cheerfully for the camera.

Davido reshared the video on his Instagram story and humorously remarked that his wife should allow him to enjoy a similar experience, pointing out that the scene occurred in Ghana.

The light-hearted comment did not sit well with some social media users, who criticised the singer and linked his remark to the Anu Adeleke controversy. Others recalled the past press briefing held by Davido’s father and questioned whether the singer was inviting another round of public scrutiny that could once again involve his family.

On the other hand, several fans rushed to Davido’s defence, insisting that his comment was clearly playful and not meant to be taken seriously. Supporters argued that if the singer had truly intended it, he would not have made the remark publicly. Some also noted that after months of touring and constant travel, the artiste deserved time to unwind.
