Music producer and singer Samklef has said late Majek Fashek had more hit songs than Afrobeat musician Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
In a post on X, he took a swipe at Fela's son, Seun Kuti, revealing that the respect shown to his father by today's generation is out of pity.
He said, "Majek Fashek even had hit songs that surpassed Fela’s.
"Send down the rain! Religion and politics! All his songs na hits. Cause we Dey pity your papa, you come Dey feel like god make artist Dey worship you. Zombie!"
In another post, he called on the Federal Government to close down Fela Shrine it has become a haven for criminals and a place where the lives of youths are destroyed.
He said on X, "The Federal Government must close that Fela Shrine. NDLEA keeps arresting innocent people, yet the Fela family—who claim to speak against bad government—are running a place where youths’ lives are being destroyed. Criminal hideouts!"
He also said, "Facts! Fela stole Orlando Julius Ekemode style the original afrobeat founder he also taught Fela how to play sax! The problem with Nigeria generally we lack proper documentation. I go start to Dey teach una history.?
Samklef said this amid a beef between singer Wizkid and Seun Kuti.
Seun Kuti had spent the last couple of days trolling Wizkid and his fans, and even taunted them by saying their father left no legacy like his own father.
After a period of silence amid the attacks from Seun Kuti, Wizkid finally responded, declaring that he's better than Fela, earning him some criticisms.
Reacting, Samklef, who produced most of the songs on Wizkid's sophomore album, said, "When I wake up to all the idiots calling out Wizkid fc. Why una no on ring light call out Seun Kuti when he attack people papa. They attack Wizkid back-to-back! U see na the problem I get with una be This. E no better for una papa and Seun kuti papa join self: hypocrites."
