Motunrayo Kuti Bakare, the elder sister of Afrobeat singer Seun Kuti, has entered the ongoing Wizkid–Kuti family feud with a fiery response that has set social media abuzz.
In a viral video, Motunrayo lashed out at Wizkid FC, questioning why the fanbase repeatedly brings up the late Afrobeat legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, during online arguments. She accused many of them of knowing little about Fela or the Kuti family but still speaking recklessly about his legacy.
While admitting she enjoys Wizkid’s music, Motunrayo downplayed his musical credibility, saying he is not a “real musician” because he does not play any instrument. However, she clarified that her main anger was not directed at Wizkid himself, but rather at fans who constantly compared him to Fela, which she described as deeply disrespectful.
According to her, the continuous comparison between Wizkid and Fela is an insult to her father’s lifelong struggle, activism, and cultural impact.
Her rant then took a more personal turn as she dragged Wizkid’s father into the conversation. Motunrayo alleged that Wizkid’s dad abandoned him and his mother, forcing the singer to struggle before attaining fame. She questioned why Wizkid FC ignores this part of his story but feels comfortable dragging Fela’s name into online debates.
Wrapping up her outburst, she blasted Wizkid FC, calling them “senseless nitwits” and warned them to permanently remove Fela’s name from their fan wars.
