House on the Rock’s flagship worship event, The Experience, is set to celebrate its 20th edition on Friday, December 5, with an all-night concert expected to draw hundreds of thousands to Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.
Convened by the Metropolitan and Senior Pastor of House on the Rock, Paul Adefarasin, the annual gathering has grown into one of the world’s largest gospel concerts, attracting worshippers from across Nigeria and around the globe.
This year’s edition, themed ‘Jesus United,’brings together some of the most prominent names in gospel music, including Mercy Chinwo, Dunsin Oyekan, Sinach, Frank Edwards, Travis Greene, Chevelle Franklyn, and Chandler Moore. The concert will also feature performances by Onos Ariyo, Naomi Raine, Mr M & Revelation, Moses Bliss, Mike Aremu, and the Lagos Metropolitan Gospel Choir, among others. First-time appearances include Tolu Odukoya and Gaise Baba.
Scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., the event has maintained its tradition of being free and open to all, despite its scale and international reputation.
Over the years, The Experience has drawn dignitaries, business leaders, diplomats, and clergy, but its organisers have consistently emphasised its focus on worship and unity rather than prestige.
Marking two decades, this year’s theme underscores a message of togetherness at a time of national and global uncertainty.
According to organisers, the concert seeks to reinforce the idea that worship can serve as a bridge across divides, offering hope and fostering reconciliation.
Since its debut in 2006, The Experience has become a cultural and spiritual cornerstone in Lagos, contributing to the city’s identity as a hub for large-scale faith gatherings. The annual event often spills into the early hours of the next day, with the city echoing with music and prayer long after the stage lights dim.
