Olamide, who spotted the singer’s potential early, said Asake’s talent was unlike anything he had encountered before.

In a recent interview, the YBNL boss explained that from their very first meeting, he recognised Asake’s exceptional sound and authenticity.

“I didn’t know he was going to go that wild, but I knew Asake was one of one. From the sound to everything else, I had never heard anything close to that before. His authenticity and craftsmanship stood out,” Olamide said.

Beyond talent, Olamide stressed that Asake’s natural drive and tireless work ethic also played a huge role in his decision to sign him.

“Asake is not the type you try to convince to put in effort because he is already giving his all. That’s why I respect him so much, and I thought it would be great for us to partner,” he added.

Olamide further noted that his approach to nurturing artists involves giving them freedom and avoiding unnecessary pressure.

“Honestly, I don’t put pressure on my guys. I just tell them to make beautiful music. If it’s awesome, it will fly — maybe immediately, maybe in 10 or 20 years. But good music will always stand the test of time,” he said.

The YBNL boss concluded that Asake’s authenticity, work ethic, and creativity were the defining qualities that convinced him to bring the singer on board.
