Famous Nigerian songstress, Tiwa Savage, has dismissed viral claims suggesting she deliberately leaked her sex tape to stay relevant.

Her private video surfaced online in 2021 after she refused to bow to a blackmailer’s demands, sparking widespread criticism and debate across social media.

In a recent interview with American radio station Hot 97, the “Somebody’s Son” hitmaker opened up about the trauma she faced in the aftermath of the scandal.

“I was bashed for my sex video. A lot of people thought I was just trying to get sympathy. Even people with platforms were horrible and blamed me,” she said.

Tiwa further stressed that the narrative was unfair, noting that instead of being seen as a victim of blackmail, many accused her of staging the leak for publicity.

“They said I did it to be relevant. If that were true, I would have been intentional about it. I would have used better lighting, lingerie, and my facial expressions would have been on point,” she added.
