A young woman named Dominica Chinwe, who identifies herself as a close friend of the late Nigerian singer Mohbad, has shared a detailed and emotional account of the singer’s final years, shedding light on his mental health, a violent clash with the NDLEA, and his complicated relationship with his wife, Wunmi.
Speaking in a recent interview with controversial activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), Dominica offered never-before-heard details that have reignited public interest in the circumstances surrounding Mohbad’s untimely death.
She described a chaotic scene in which Mohbad physically confronted the officers to protect his friend. According to her, Wunmi reportedly assaulted an officer, adding to the tension.
Dominica claimed that when Mohbad tried to follow the NDLEA van in his own vehicle, the officers began shooting and rammed his car three times. He allegedly jumped out of the car in rage and engaged the officers in a physical altercation.
“They beat him with the butts of their rifles, and he was bleeding when they forced him into their van,” she added.
Aftermath: Health Decline and Mental Struggles
Dominica claimed Mohbad was released later that night due to a scheduled performance in Dubai, but he was far from okay.
“He was hospitalized after the incident. Later, he was admitted to Aro [a neuropsychiatric hospital] because he kept complaining about his head,” she said.
His health, according to Dominica, continued to decline. Even after leaving Aro, Mohbad frequently requested hospital visits. A nurse was reportedly brought in by his family to help monitor his condition.
Wunmi’s Role: Allegations of Betrayal and Gaslighting
Dominica also made serious allegations against Wunmi, Mohbad’s wife and the mother of his child. She accused Wunmi of using laughing gas (nitrous oxide) and attempting to manipulate situations by contacting Naira Marley, claiming Mohbad’s family wanted to harm him.
“She shared private family information with Naira Marley in hopes of getting help,” Dominica said.
She further alleged that a UK doctor had offered to treat Mohbad abroad for six months, but plans fell apart when Wunmi shifted the blame to Dominica’s ex-boyfriend, sparking confusion and mistrust.
Viral Video and Family Reconciliation with Naira Marley
Dominica also addressed the viral video where Mohbad said, “If I die, it is Naira Marley.” She claimed the singer was not mentally sound when he recorded the clip.
Another video, reportedly filmed in 2022, surfaced after Mohbad’s death. In it, Mohbad told Wunmi that if anything happened to him, her family would not know peace. Dominica alleged that this video was leaked following his passing to shift public sympathy and suspicion.
Despite everything, she revealed that Mohbad’s family eventually reconciled with Naira Marley, adding yet another layer of complexity to the already controversial case.
Bella Shmurda and More Allegations
Dominica also claimed that Wunmi once reported Mohbad’s close friend and fellow artist, Bella Shmurda, to Naira Marley for allegedly offering Mohbad a hard substance.
These claims have not been verified by independent sources and, as of this report, neither Wunmi, Naira Marley, nor Bella Shmurda have publicly responded.
