Omobolarinde Akinyanju, popularly known as Ashabi Simple and wife to street-pop star Portable (Habeeb Olalomi Badmus), has spoken out in defense of her relationship and marriage to the controversial singer.

During a recent TikTok live session, Ashabi tackled various questions and criticisms from social media users about her choice to stay with Portable despite their frequent public disagreements.

Ashabi stated firmly that no amount of external pressure could make her walk away from her marriage. “I can never leave Portable, no matter what people say. I love being in love I even have to control myself sometimes,” she said.

The mother of two, who is also a university graduate, addressed comments suggesting she rushed into marriage. She pointed out that many women older than her are still unmarried, and some who did eventually marry are now divorced.

Responding to claims that she lacked love and support from her family, Ashabi clarified that she comes from a loving home and is not from a polygamous background. She noted that, ironically, despite her deep love for affection, she never imagined she would become part of a polygamous family.

Ashabi also shut down accusations that she married Portable for financial gain. “I made millions before I met Portable,” she stated confidently, adding that she had already gained fame in her own right before their relationship began.

Despite their occasional public spats and social media drama, Ashabi and Portable often reconcile, showing that their bond remains strong beneath the surface of online scrutiny.
